HA8 Task 4 Design Pack

Produce a design pack that explains what your sidekick will look like. Remember to follow the principle of form follows function. I.e. what it looks like is directly affected by what it does. You will need to produce sketches of your sidekick design from the front, back and side.

Shoot any additional reference imagery and textures, make measurements and draw diagrams to provide you with the information you need to model your character and any context you wish to place it in. Your design pack will evolve as the modelling develops.

Check your work carefully, complete and sign the legal and ethical checklist.

Remember that you are trying to generate thoroughly thought through ideas for 3D models showing creativity and flair and working independently to professional expectations.

Design Pack

I have decided to go with the Gunslinger design for my sidekick. This Design will include a wild western theme mixed with very advanced technology, capable of defending me with futuristic weaponry whilst also staying close to me and assisting me in everyday life. I have designed my robot on this idea because i thought it was the most thorough idea and i can branch off from this idea and produce more models for the sidekick. The sidekick is a male, tall in stature (7ft atleast), has 1 humanoid arm and the other, mechanical. He wears Western style clothing.

Reference Imagery

My sidekick will appear like a wild western gunslinger, because of this, he will protect and defend me from hazards or dangers and even enemies. He is tall, much taller than myself therefore he has an advantage of sight. Since he is also robotic, his sight is further enhanced by his lens eye (he has 2 eyes 1 is for long sight, one is for focusing at short sight this allows him to calculate and predict every move of the environment around him. He will have a Bandolier on the strap around his shoulder, this is where the ammo he uses will be stored as well as an explosive, This equipment is used for his 2 smith and Wesson pistols, and are only too be used in dire need. The stetson hat will cover his head and this is a purely for aesthetics because he enjoys wearing it. The boots are going to be huge, this is another environmental change, it's so he can walk over large, scarce areas and terrain such as desserts or swamps, without harm or injury and nothing can get into his boots either.

I have altered the design slightly since the previous insight. I have given him 2 humanoid arms instead of 1 robotic and 1 human arm. This is so that the skin can protect the metal inside of his arm (the robotic arm hasn't gone it's just inside the skin kind of like bones for a human). I left out the mouth and nose, a robot does not need to breathe and neither does my sidekick.

The gun is a grey type of metallic colour it will include 2 linear barrels (a larger one on top and a smaller one underneath). The handle will be a leathery type of black, I also changed his appearance around the hands the gunslinger now wears gloves that don't cover his fingers for further protection.
He wears a brown Jacket with a small slit in one of the sides. This will also be a kind of cape as well, as it hangs from his shoulders over his back and down towards his knees. The eyes will be a metallic grey colour much like the revolvers, the difference between the 2 is the eye lens will be trimmed a different type of grey to make it look more detailed and appealing as robotic technology.  The left eye will have a red lens, whilst the right will have 3 mini lenses pointing out of one larger one. These are the ones that aforementioned focus on short sighted version.
